The Beginning of Forestville New
Redeemer Baptist Church
New Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church moved into the Forestville Baptist Church in April 6, 2003 to share worship space. The two churches enjoyed a wonderful year of fellowship together including drawing up a cooperative agreement to aid in repairs and necessities of the building. Every fifth Sunday, both churches came together in corporate worship. In the Spring of 2004, the Forestville congregation approached the New Redeemer congregation with the idea to merge into one congregation. After several meetings and amicable negations, that proposition became a reality on June 12, 2005, thus becoming FORESTVILLE NEW REDEEMER BAPTIST CHURCH.
Together we have moved to replace doors and windows to the church building, revamp the Christian School, renovate the Mission House, examined and combined our Sunday Schools, Ministries, officers, and finances.
Sunday, September 18, 2005 we celebrated the formal transitioning from two separate churches to one church being under the auspices of one God, one Pastor, and one vision. As of this writing, the Lord has blessed the church under Dr. Thomas' able leadership with well over 20 ministries, 10 ordained Deacons and 2 in training, 6 consecrated Deaconesses and 7 in training, 3 Trustees, 10 ministers and 7 of them are ordained (one of the 7 has planted a church, Faith Renewal Fellowship in Laurel, MD). The TUCCA Christian School has been renamed Children of Promise Christian Academy, and the United Christian Mission renamed Agape Outreach Ministries. We praise God for the journey and how far He has brought us. We will continue to "lift up our eyes unto the hills from whence cometh our help, because our help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth " Ps. 121:1-2. We couldn't have done any of this without him. To God be the Glory!
