Rev. Dr. Nathaniel B. Thomas,

M.Th, LICSW

Rev. Dr. Nathaniel B. Thomas, is currently the Pastor of Forestville New Redeemer Baptist Church in Forestville, MD and has served as Pastor since 1993. He hails from the Johnson Memorial Baptist Church (formerly Burrell Memorial Baptist) where he was baptized by the founding Pastor, the Late Rev. Mitchell Johnson. While there he served in many capacities within the church, as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, established the Christian Education Ministry, and Chairman of the Constitution Committee just to name a few. He accepted the call to preach the Gospel and received his license July 22, 1979 under the pastorate of Rev. Rodney L. Young.

In 1990, he was called to serve as the Special Assistant to the Pastor (Rev. Dr. Michael Turner) at Faith Baptist Church in Largo, MD in 1992, he united with Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church and the Rev. Joseph A. Gilmore ordained him November 28, 1992. He has been blessed with the gift of song and has participated in many concert tours throughout the United States and abroad with such great artists as Richard Smallwood, the Late Dr. Pearl Williams-Jones, the Late Rev. Donald Veils, Rev. Shirley Caesar, Holly’s great Jester Hairston, William Warfield and others. He served for about 31 years at Howard University as the Senior Community Director. He worked as an Educator and served in the areas of Counseling, Therapeutic Work, and Staff Management. He retired from Howard U. in 2005.

Presently, Pastor Thomas teaches at the Calvary Christian College in Waldorf, MD and maintains membership to several Ministerial and Professional Associations such as:

  • The MD/Delaware Southern Baptist Association
  • The Baptist Minister’s Conference, Wash., D.C. & Vicinity – Executive Committee
  • The Washington Metropolitan Ministerium
  • The National Association of Social Workers
  • The American Association of Christian Counselors
  • Chairman of the DC Mayor’s Subcommittee for Strategic Planning
  • Chaplain Medlink Hospital Nursing Center Ethics Committee
  • Centre Point Counseling Board of Directors
  • P.G. Baptist Association and many others.

Dr. Thomas has been educated at the following schools…Delaware State University, Allen University and Howard University. He has continued his studies with Duke University School of Divinity, Howard University School of Divinity, the Adlerian Institute, the National Institute of Health, the University of San Diego, George Mason University, the Maple Springs Bible College and Seminary, and Calvary Christian College all with continuing education credits honors and/or Degrees.

God has blessed Pastor Thomas to be married to the former Diane Willis, with three children, Matthew, Natali and Dana and three Grandchildren, Kristen, Eryn and Matthew Allen.
